Im away

I'm away with my friends and after only a few hours l feel better. I see things clearer. I can see how l have to change. But l have felt like this before when lve been away from home...then l get back and l slide back. But hopefully now with the aid of the meds l might be able to sustain this mentality this time...l hope so for everyone's sake. 🤞

Hi Awal,

Is it possible to stay with a friend this week?

Getting into a clear head space allows more healthy thoughts and possibilities to emerge. Not going home is a powerful statement for self-awareness, when home is a mentally and emotionally unhealthy environment. (((hugs)))

I was watching a movie on TCM last night - I think it was the one about WWII correspondent Ernie Pyle - and one of the characters (the Captain of the platoon) is having insomnia from all the letters he has to write for the dead soldiers in his command. Anyway, Pyle tells him to "get some sleep." And the Captain says something like: "It's like that W.C. Fields line - the best cure for insomnia is a good night's sleep."

Wishing peaceful, restful, restorative sleep upon you.

Awal...while the meds may help you relax a little, they are not a cure all. No medicine is going to make your brain click and just be ok with behavior that is wrong or damaging.

Said from someone who learned the hard way.

I have been home since Monday, have not searched, not monitored, not checked any levels etc. And l am feeling calmer, l am more focussed at work, and l am not bombarding friends with my woes.
l dont doubt the pills are playing their part but l am also applying self control too. No more torturing myself.

Yes, you know, in times of stress in particular, it can be hard to find a mental balance.

Hormones (like cortisol) come in to play and over time it is draining and sometimes something like an anti-depressant can help set things right.

It's like someone throwing a wee ladder down the rabbit hole.

Nothing wrong with that and it can be so helpful, whether it's short term or long term. I am so glad you are feeling more content and at ease Awal.

Awal my new dentist who is Irish does teeth guards for grinders as you'd expect, but he also does Botox! So it's a one stop shop.
