W.A.I.T. Why Am I Talking
Another quote on this subject:
"Silence is a greatly underestimated source of power. In silence, we can hear not only what is being said, but also what is not being said. In silence, it can be easier to reach the truth."
Am I talking for approval and to be overly helpful? (Rescuer)
Am I talking to control and take charge of the situation? (Persecutor)
Am I talking to complain and whine about all I don’t like? (Victim)
Many of our behaviors are habitual and probably none more so than talking. Here are a few reflective questions to ask yourself before you leap into a conversation: What is my intention behind what I am about to say?
Is there a question I could ask that would help me better understand what the other person is saying and perceiving?
How might I simply listen and let go of my urge to talk in this moment? If we all did a little more W.A.I.T.ing and a little less talking, we believe this world would be a more empowering and co-creative place.

I learned W.A.I.T. at Al-anon meetings and found the info above online.
I'm applying this in many ways this week. Talking less, letting silence be comfortable, easy and welcomed. It's been great timing for this to come up. Praying, meditating, waiting for guidance.
Finding my voice in new ways and continually gaining confidence.

l agree, we need to work on the willpower to keep it 'zipped'...l know in my case l will be saving myself a lot of conflict if l can master the W.A.I.T. mentality!
After 3 years, I blocked my XABF from my phone a week ago. The silence is a huuuuuuuuge change. This is a wonderful way to look at blocking, which we normally think of as a punitive measure. When I think of the silence from all the texts as making room for guidance, I feel encouraged. Your words take me out of a reactive mode into a more peaceful, spiritually receptive mode.
