Or 3/4 of a year, whichever you prefer.

I feel great. In about 50 days I'll be free and clear from the legal consequences of the event that brought me here. Shortly after that I'll have 1 year. I spend little time looking back with regrets or remorse - I do not see any real utility in doing so. For that I am grateful.

This this year has been the most profound period of growth and constructive change I've ever experienced.

I'm grateful for many things. Life, my career, my home, my inner circle of friends and support... the list goes on.

My goal is to become indifferent to alcohol and chemicals. I want to continue working toward a place that I hardly give it a thought outside of occasionally keeping myself tethered with healthy reminders of why there's no room in my life for any of it. I will not allow alcohol and drugs to define me or my life - through use or abstinence. My life will define my life.

Thanks for this community for providing me a place to vent and muse. Also for helping me not feel so damn alone - especially in the early days.

I wish everyone the best in their respective journeys. And thanks for allowing me to occasionally share perspectives on my own journey here... I hope they help others in some way great or small.

Best-

-B

Congratulations on this milestone Buckley. Your insights and perspectives have definitely helped me, and I thank you. Onward and upward for both of us!

Great post! If you get recovered from alcoholism then you will be completely indifferent to alcohol/chemicals. It’s a wonderful thing and freely available for those that want it.

keep doing what you’re doing and keep moving forwards in your recovery and things will continue to get better and better. Brilliant attitude.

Grateful to be sober, grateful to be alcoholic.

Ding ding.

A source of inspiration and an example of grit. Thanks man. Keep us updated and keep it moving. I think after these 50 days a whole new life is going to open up for you. There will certainly be temptation, but it's clear you are building a structure to take advantage of your life and your future again, for the first time.

Proud to be walking the path with you.
