Sober again!
Greetings all,
it it is a pleasure to be a part of this community. I am 28 years old, and grew up in Arizona. I fell into addiction without really knowing what I was doing. I was very nieve when I was young. Started using when I was around 16.. Alcohol and drugs soon dominated me. I went through state ordered counseling several times and nothing ever stuck. After a DUI in 2013 I checked myself into Round Table Recovery in Prescott, AZ to try and make a change. I was sober for close to a year during that time. But I went back out and had been using until 10 days ago. I felt like I was going to die either from using or from self infliction.. I reached out to my family one more time and my brother-in-law and sister offered me help. Back in September I put my house up for sale and moved across the country to Louisiana where they live. Even doing that I couldn’t shake my addictions and brought my substance with me and even bought alchohol shortly after I arrived. By the grace of god my sister found it through my own stupidity. I am so thankful that happened. It’s like that switch flipped again! I have been sober for 10 days. I know this is the “riding on a cloud” stage and that it’s easy right now. But with theirs and your support I hope to stay sober each and every day. I do not have a sponsor yet, and am looking for one. Preferably local to Monroe, Louisiana. But even if I cannot find someone local; if anyone is willing to sponsor me and help me I would be eternally grateful. I am planning on getting evaluated by a councelor as soon as my Medicaid kicks in and start a new program. It’s time to fix the wreckage of the past and become a new person. Thank you all for your acceptance, I look forward to hearing from you.

Hey Dallas! Love the name! I live in Houston.
congrats on Day 10. I am on Day 9 and riding that high too! Hang now there though. My sponsor is from Louisiana and may be able to recommend someone to you. I’ll ask him and message you if he comes up with someone.

Welcome, Dallas! It’s nice that you have someone in your life who is patient and supportive. Also, you are lucky to be getting yourself on track at such a young age!
Horn — I’m in Houston too! Fingers crossed for better weather soon, right? Not enjoyinf having to take my dog out in this muck.

It's great to have you with us, Dallas.
Congratulations on your sobriety and your new life. I'm glad you saw what needed to happen. It took me much longer. Welcome to an encouraging place.
