I went to the doctor!

I was there for 2 hours and he was wonderful. He knew immediately that I have bipolar when I told him I had bulimia as a young woman. He gave me blood pressure medication and librium to detox and wants me to call him every day and then start antabuse in 7 days if I am sober then. Alao wants me to start depakote then which cured me of bulimia 25 years ago. I am so hopeful! Also said I must start therapy again and drew blood to see what my body is like and whether Im through menopause. Wants to start a nutrition program too

Wow! That's incredible. Good for you and being honest. Must be a very caring doctor. Sounds like a great plan of action.

It is good to have a plan to tackle the different things you have going on. Staying sober sounds like a critical part of the plan. If you start to cave in get here and post. Lots of good folks here to encourage you on this journey.

Such an awesome job by you and your doctor both! It was scary for me to go for it w Drs when I first got sober but they have proven to be very important in my recovery.

You are off to a great start.

I am happy you went in for a good checkup. He sounds like he knows what he is doing.

Best of luck on your journey. I imagine you will be feeling really good soon.

It’s wonderful to trust your doctor and really believe in the process of taking care of your physical health and mental health. I myself have visited a doctor to help with my sobriety and depression issues. It’s not for everyone but it is a process and is mostly working for me and it sounds like you are getting good results too!
