My experience. A message for you all hopefully.

I am adult male 42 years old. My problems are not about addiction necessarily. I have had a problem my entire life which I didn't know about. I was called "Lazy", "********" even. As a child by my own parents, teachers etc. Even friends, classmates.

My family turned their backs in me. ADHD. A neurobiological dissorder. I am an expert because I have lived with it my entire life. I am going to bring down a lot of people who purposely denied me the proper medical care. You will always meet a doctor who is not qualified. Here is the kicker, both my parents are doctors. High profile doctors too. They did nothing as I literally begged for help.

I would estimate many adults who have ADHD don't know. It is not invented by pharmaceutical companies to sell drugs.

Stay tuned! More to come my friends.

That is absolutely disgusting that your own parents, teachers, classmates, and friends labeled you as "lazy" or "********". Shame on them.

You must have felt relieved when you realized you had ADHD. You know what's true for you.

Don't look back. Look forward and keep moving in that direction. Live your life and step out of the labels they put on you.

That's really tough WD--I'm sorry you had to grow up with that.

How's the sobriety going?
That will be a key tool for you in rebuilding your life.

I'm sorry you've had to deal with that WL.

Most of us have underlying reasons why we drink - I did - and a lot of us have similar kind of baggage.

I think however many years you've been carrying all that around, it's time to drop it

The only way I could start to effectively deal with it was stop drinking, get sober and stay that way.

I may have started drinking as self medication, but over 2 decades or more, I developed addiction/alcoholism too, if you see what I mean.

I had to tackle both my alcoholism and then the underlying reasons stuff.

wishing you all the best WL
