I drank again today

I’m not giving up. Tomorrow is day 1. I’m so tired of the shame and guilt. I have some things from the past that eat at me. I’m hurting. Reading other people’s struggles helps. I don’t feel so alone. Thank you SR for being here.

I am glad to hear you are not giving up. I had several day 1's too and I broke through. It took finding other ways to deal with the pain and staying busy.

I'm sorry you're hurting, bluedog.

I know dealing with the past is very difficult. Maybe try and get some counseling to help you. Drinking never solved any problem I ever had. In fact, alcohol compounded everything tenfold.

I'm glad you're trying again. You can do this!

Hey Bluedog
you've been trying to deal with the past by drinking for a long time now - it's not not working man.

There must be other better healthier ways to deal with your past and the things & people in your life that trigger you

Don’t give up Bluedog! You can do it! Can you think about your strategy and what could be different the next time you have an urge to drink? Can you come here instead, go for a walk, run, drive, whatever? And wait for the bad feelings to pass? They always do, and you don’t have to give in. Therapy really helped me in the beginning because I had to co,e to terms with my past childhood and resentments. In fact, I’m not sure I could have done it without therapy.

Lots of support here for you.

Bluedog.
Remember that this is a journey. It is not a destination.
You will get "there" in time. Just live and learn thru the 'bumps in the road'.
Give yourself a break and begin again.

Yea thanks for checking in. Still sober and I plan to stay that way. Still dealing with a terrible hangover but hopefully tomorrow will get better.

I really think I hit bottom last night. It was awful. I plan to hit a few meetings this weekend.
