Resources on Addiction for Kids
Resources on Addiction for Kids
Hi all -- It's been a long time. Life is good, I am great, but time marches on. XA is still living in his parents' basement, drinking, unemployed for six years, having regular supervised visits with DD7. She is experiencing anxiety about his condition and the condition of our custody agreement. I have counseling for her starting next week.
I'm looking for resources that will help me talk to DD7 about alcoholism and addiction. Thanks in advance for your help.

Warning-
I don't have kids, nor have I read this book yet. I did hear a podcast with the author who sounded pretty amazing. I suspect it is more appropriate for teen/pre-teen. It is just out pretty recently.

Alakid/Alateen is available in some communities.
I've driven some long distances for my sons meetings and they've been very beneficial. He started at 7 years old. Our closest group said Alateen on the information for it. In another Alateen group I know of a 6 year old attending. Some stick to the teenage years only.
