Nobody consumes bleach, or randomly picked mushrooms because they're poison. But many drink alcohol.

I get the point but alcohol is a poison that also makes us feel good initially...I think that's a pretty profound difference. But it does reinforce the seeming madness/denial surrounding addiction to alcohol for certain.

Drinking ethanol can also produce the same effects. Ethanol is the intoxicating part. It's just watered down. It's fair to say alcohol is diluted ethanol. Nobody advocates that. And there are certainly many more poisons such as bath salts that are never advocated. the difference is alcohol is legal so it appears "safe".
