Hi new here! Mum is an alcoholic.
Hi Everyone. Found this sit as I am searching for answers regarding my alcoholic mum.
I think she may be nearing the end. She has been drinking heavily for about 20 years now. She has always been annoying but just lately I don't recognise her.
Last year because I challenged her for lying about me she told me maybe she should have drowned me at birth. She is always angry at me or my dad. She mutters constantly to herself, walks by hanging onto the chairs or the walls. She constantly complains of a bad stomach and has terrible diarrhoea meaning she has to take diacalm to leave the house. She doesn't eat and is sick a lot.
I think I have started to face the fact that this is no longer my mother and have started to distance myself for my own protection.

I am glad that you found us, ElizabethGrace, but so very sorry for what brings you here.
I have attended many Alanon meetings and have found them very helpful.
As Anna mentioned, the Friends & Families forum here could also be a great source of support.
