Weekender Thread 12-15 October 2018
Hi There!
I'd like to welcome anyone new to SR and new to this thread.
Weekends can be a tough time, and that's what this thread is about - support.
We also share bits and pieces of our lives and the things that are important to us, or make us laugh..anything that makes the journey a little easier
If you've never jumped into a weekender thread before - no time like today...do it now!

Good morning all.
And hello Kid50, good to see you here!
I’m definitely in. First autumn cool front finally managed to push through and bring a couple days of low humidity weather perfection.
Best weekend wishes for everyone.

Hi, weekenders.
I am in.
It's a gorgeous and very warm Octsober day here.
I've just had a great session with my therapist.
Congrats on the shotgun, Hawkeye!
Here's a song for you and every weekender.

Yay, shiny new Weekender.
Friday here. Every day is Friday so this day as a drinking day is no different than any other. I was not a weekend-only drinker, not from the very beginning. Well, that's why I'm here.
In the early days of sobriety it's a real effort to break the habits. I made sure to get outside for a walk every day. I listened to calm instrumental Classical music on Pandora. I bought whole foods and prepared all my meals. Washed dishes.
Making new routines and keeping busy and not reacting to outside events were all important parts of my early sobriety. I read up on anxiety and how to deal with difficult people and anything else I could think of that I knew I needed to work on.
Days added up. I started feeling better. Not right away, but peace came.
In for a sober weekend.

Welcome to Weekenders Kid50!
Great post bim!
It's been a lousy week at work but this Vietnamese soup I had at lunchtime almost made up for it. There is so much garlic in it that people are going to avoid talking to me all weekend, worth it though.

Man, that looks delicious. Moar garlic, I say.
I roast my own garlic and use it daily.
Wrap three heads of garlic, whole, in aluminum foil.
Place directly on oven rack.
Bake for 30 minutes at 350*F
Let cool.
Peel and place cloves in a jar.
Pour enough olive oil into the jar to cover cloves.
Ta da.
Keeps in the refrigerator for as long as I need it to - usually a couple months. Bonus is that the olive oil becomes garlic oil that I use for sauteeing or for tossing with cut up potatoes and then roasting them. Mmmm.
