May I ask, what the goal of this question is?

But no, I would not.

Purely hypothetical question, but important to me, nothing more, nothing less!

Why not?

Drinking is of such little importance to me five years out that it rarely even enters my mind. I have full contentment now--drinking now would just overlay an artificial, muddy feeling.

It wouldn't be worth my while to bother.

I don't know, let's say a huge asteroid was 24 hours away from crashing into Earth, Nasa had put out the warnings and this time tomorrow the Earth was going to be smashed into 'smithereens'

Would you drink tonight?

I do appreciate your comment, please don't take this the wrong way. But why are you still here posting, 5 years sober?

You still never answered the question though!

Nope, because I would be convinced that it was just TV stations looking for ratings. The scenario you outline is an impossibility. But I get your question. I personally would not. That being said, I never say never. So who knows.

The reason I'm still here posting even though I no longer need the sobriety support is because I have come to love the SR community.

Like I have said, the question is purely 'hypothetical' but what if it was a certainty?

Without TV stations etc. Just your glance up to the skies and you just knew it was going to be over.

Only you know if you would or wouldn't drink or not!

Many of us here have been in recovery for a long time and I think long-term members hope to be able help others in a small way.

Because drinking would be the last thing on my mind, I would rather get my family and friends together, and spend it with them.

I get that @Anna. That is a wonderful thing and I honestly mean that. Can you answer my question?

I'd be doing exactly what i am doing, hanging out watching an old movie. I'm old--I've already done lots, so I'm just content these days.

I do whatever each new days brings--but if there were no new day, I'd just continue watching The Great Race on Amazon Prime. I'm good with my eternal destiny.

No, I would not drink, or be tempted to drink. That's not how I want to go out.
