Growth: What stops me from moving to where I want to be?
What stops me from moving to where I want to be?
1. Fear of the alcoholic and other bullies.
2. What is familiar can be "comfortable", even if it's not as healthy as moving forward.
3. Me.
Looking at the obstacles, they can be put into "right-sized" perspectives. I learn how to deal with alcoholics and bullies by taking new actions. I grow by getting out of my comfort zone. I allow myself new kindness, support and fun in my life.
It is good karma to let go of fear and treat myself well.

Government agencies and the legal system. I'm learning how to deal with these things.

I'm taking care of my self, goals, health and finances.
1, 2 and 3 above are no longer holding me back.

Timing.
Waiting is a powerful action. I trust in the process and greatly appreciate good timing.

What helps me is to understand that denial and rationalization are part of alcoholism no matter how long I've stopped drinking. And the longer I stay sober (28 years) the more I realize how great a part they play in my psyche. That's why a sponsor is such a godsend: I can get a reality check in a quick phone call when my thinking is off-base.
And, as an early sponsor said "there are good days and there are learning days".
