Going to try again

Insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and over.

I am back yet again to day one after a night and morning of heavy drinking.

I need to quit.

Wise move Brandy. It's not how many times we fall but how many times we get back up and continue to fight we are measured on so good on you for getting back in the ring.

What is your plan to keep sober and do things differently this time?

You forgot a line from that phrase: "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results".

By this definition, I have been insane for over a decade....

I think we all have had a number of day 1's before we had long term sobriety. I wish you the best!! never give up.

Right there with you, on my day one after a weekend long binge. I can go months at a time but always end up here. We can do this.

Insanity for me is closer to the definition: something utterly foolish or unreasonable. Extreme folly. Lacking any soundness of mind. AKA drunk.

Doing the same thing over and over, expecting it to change? That's my insanely stubborn and willful nature!! The best friend of insanity. Ah addiction.....

I'm with Frick - addiction is a beast, welcome back. It's in you to get better and stay that way. What's the plan?

My plan is to replace my drinking with productive hobbies.

I have a "to do" list that needs to be followed to the letter.

I am cutting back on my foolish spending as well, which is largely drinking related.

I intend to post more here as well.

There's no doubt you can do it, brandilynncd. Life will be so much better.

welcome back brandilynncd

Doing stuff is good but I think a recovery action plan also needs a strategy for when the urge to drink again strikes?

There are some good ideas here

https://www.soberrecovery.com/forums...very-plan.html (What exactly is a recovery plan?)
