2 Months no drinking

2 Months no drinking
Hi
I have been on and off this site since 2010. I have had some success to stop drinking for a few months at a time but never seem to reach my goal.
My last goal in July was for 6 months alcohol free, but I did not make it. I know see my self binge drinking every weekend for the last few months. Feeling like crap for the working weekend and recovered enough come Friday to go through the cycle all over again. There always seems to be some excuse (engagements, weddings, birthdays, work events etc).
I am setting myself a smaller goal of 2 months alcohol free and re-evaluate on the 1st of December (the first day of summer In NZ).
Hopefully posting here will give me some accountability!

I hope you make it two months.
I had to approach it differently. Once I recognized I had never been a normal drinker, and was never going to be one, never drinking again was the only solution. Accepting that I was quitting forever, was very freeing for me. No more negotiations with my addiction: I'll quit for six months... I'll quit until Christmas... I'll try for three months and re-evaluate. No, for me, taking drinking off the table completely, never to drink again, gave my addiction no wiggle room, no excuses.
