Day four done

Day 4 done, bedtime soon. Midday I started thinking about buying alcohol but I went home and ate lunch and it passed.

I usually smoke a vape pen when I drink and I think I'm also getting nicotine withdrawal too. I quit cigarettes 2.5 years ago but continued the vaping but only when drinking. Earlier on I was really tempted to use the vaping but without the drinking but I've done this many days so will see how I go with that.

I watched a film earlier and every advert break was advertising alcohol. I fast forwarded through it but it's everywhere in advertising.

Tomorrow morning no hangover. Weekend approaching, a bit apprehensive about that as it will be my first real test of this but at the moment even the thought of drinking and the subsequent hangover puts dread into me. I honestly never want to feel like that again.

Well done!

If you don't mind me asking, what were you drinking and how did you come off?

Long,

I got to the point where the body and mind could not take the abuse.

Why would I want to be drunk anyway. It is such a bad look.

It was fun as a kid, but I grew out of drinking finally.

Whatever it takes.

Thanks.

Wine mainly at home but I'd give anything a go when out so tequila, vodka, whatever was put in front of me.

I first posted four months ago and keep having false starts. I'm only on day five so I'm still very very wary but this time I set a quitting date ahead of time. I'm not sure if I'm doing it right or the best person to ask for advice but we're all different and reading everyone's experiences on here over the past few months has helped me get to the right place that makes me think I can stop this.

This is how I'm feeling. My body can't do it any more, the black out, dizzy. I literally couldn't function the next day and the thought of that reminds me no more.

In my twenties it was fun, now it's not and it makes me ask myself why I'm doing something that's not enjoyable and came to the conclusion I'm addicted so I have to face up to that.

Why don’t you join the weekender thread for extra support over the weekend? In my first month it was a great help. Congrats on day 4, stick with it and be kind to yourself xx
