Congrats. I'm a 47 year old man who was drunk most of his life. I'm at 105 days. I never thought I would make it to this point in life or in sober days. I wish I had done this sooner. My head is clearing from the fog with each passing week. More energy. No real cravings and I don't plan my day around booze. Welcome and stick around. I look forward to your updates.

The myth of controlled drinking
On day 50 thanks for well wishes , now re this myth. I was first advised to control my drinking in my twenties , obviously well meant but what a load of hogwash At least at time I was drinking with complete wanton abandon Totally oblivious to everything and anyone Ended up in A&E more times then would like to mention , but my thirties and forties were worse Worse cos I spent these two decades hellbent on controlling my drinking While my peers were organising their careers , wedding s etc I was stuck to a bar counter "controlling" my drinking . The years flew by and eventually the bar I drank in told me they no longer wanted my custom 30 yrs I drank in that bar , there was no bad feeling they just could t face my drinking anymore They were Done ! And I think I'm done now with drink , to finish I don't think there s a better way to waste time then to waste years (decades) thinking you can control a drinking problem with drink . That's all for now folks .
Congrats on Day 50 Kid50.
For some people moderation just doesn't work. I tried it and nothing changed, my moderation ended up with me being in A+E and barred from pubs and hotels. Sadly, we can't get the years back, but we can look forward to the future.
