6 weeks completed no desire to drink sleeping ok and apart from passing thoughts if I see a pub not really thinking about it. I have stopped attending AA, it was making me over think stopping, which was fine and what I needed at the start. Now time to just experience life sober and build a non drinking habit.

I am pretty much ok with it. The difference this time is firstly, I am much more aware of the damage to my health and how now I am in my 50s I can't afford that. The choice is quite stark in terms of future outcomes and I have been lucky so far. Sounds crazy but I never considered health risks before.

The second is I think my back to my drinking and what was the added benefits to various life experiences. What springs to mind is the number of times I struggled through with hangovers. Or drinking more and more looking for the positive effect which didn't come.

I am under no illusion I need to learn to how to deal with life's ups and downs without the emotional crutch alcohol offers.
