Winner, Winner!
hey guys! 132 days sober here. For those of you who don't know my story, I'll try to keep it brief... I was a full blown alcoholic... Drinking round the clock. I ended up in the ER with severe liver pain. The doctor told me I need to stop drinking or I would be dead within 2 years (I'm 31 years old). I quit drinking and had every withdrawal symptom in the book. I have severe body dystrophic disorder and other anxiety disorders so when I saw how huge my stomach began to swell up after I quit drinking really scared me. I have always had a slender build and seeing my stomach this big freaked me out beyond measure... Especially because since I stopped drinking I thought I would be losing weight, not swelling up like a balloon!
I was devastated thinking my body was stuck that way forever. After about a month of being bedridden, the bloating started to subside. I started getting my energy back and began slowly easing my way into a workout routine. One of my friends started his semi-annual body fat competition. I thought to myself "hmm... I probably won't win, but I need some motivation... Plus it is $100 buy in so the winner of the men will get the money from the guys pot and the winner of the ladies gets the money from the girls pot... I could use some money and I need to get healthy so let's give it a shot".
It was a 12 week competition... I ended up gaining 1 lb... But I lost 8.2% body fat. I converted any fat I had on my body into muscle! And you know what? I won!!! I was the first person ever to win the competition by GAINING muscle! This is a huge accomplishment for me. About 4.5 months ago, I was bedridden, in the most pain of my life and the most depressed I have ever been. Today, I stand here the proud winner of this body fat competition in the best shape I have been in in YEARS! Entering this competition, I didn't think I would win... But I wanted it. I wanted to prove to myself I could do it. I will not let my past mistakes ruin the rest of my life. I want to take control and get my life back, a new life, a better life. My husband told me it didn't matter if I won or not because I have already won at life by tackling my alcoholism head on and living a sober life. As he is so very right.... It doesn't hurt to have an extra $700 in my pocket so I can go out and buy myself some new clothes for my new transformation and you can bet on one thing.... Not a single cent of those winnings will be wasted on a drop of alcohol! Keep on going guys... Amazing things are waiting for you up ahead!

Thanks everybody! This is why I love you all so much. I love that I can come here at my lowest and get unconditional support and I can also come here during great moments in my life and have all of you celebrate with me. I don't know if I could have made it this far without you all ❤️❤️❤️
