Welcome jj! It's great to have you join us.

That's what I wanted too - to be able to control my drinking so I could just have a few once in a while. Unfortunately, I discovered it wasn't possible. Every time alcohol was in my system, I never knew where it would take me.

I hope talking things over will help you. I'm glad you're taking a look at what drinking is doing to your life.

I tried to drink normally too, but failed miserably. In the end, it was easier to stop drinking completely than to try to moderate my drinking.

I wanted that too JJ09 but it wasn't possible for me.

Accepting it wasn't possible was really the start of my journey back to happiness

How do you hope to accomplish this weekend only deal?

D

Hi and welcome. I never wanted to be a social or weekend drinker. I drank to get drunk, pure and simple. Why bother if that’s not the goal. For me it’s all or nothing and all wasn’t serving me well any longer so now it’s nothing. The forums help. They’re named sober recovery for a reason .

Hi Jj09.

I, too, wanted to be a social drinker but after the first sip the deal was always off. I know I can’t moderate, hence I choose sobriety.

Best wishes to you.

If I could moderate my drinking...I'd be drunk all the time. :~)
