Sorry, I don't know, but there are some very knowledgable people who could help you. But thought I would post here, anyway, to let you know someone is listening.

Hi Chrisman,

Thanks for acknowledging my question. I'm new to this, so I have to learn how this works. Thanks a lot.

steffy,

I've been there and get down to a certain dosage and start experiencing very severe panic attacks all over again, with a doctor's help. He just tells me that I need to be on Xanax. I have been on them for years. Had 1st panick attack when I was 16. Now, I'm 52. Any more suggestions for getting rid of panic attacks.

Thanks for caring.

hey techla welcome to SR. I also dont have much if any experience with xanax either, but there are some very knowldegable and caring people here. Its kinda late right now (i dont know what time zone you are in) but if you dont get many responses tonight try again during the day tomorrow, I'm sure you will hear plenty then. my best guess would also be to consult your doctor. If he says you need to be on them, and your are taking them as prescribed maybe you should stick with that for now to help with the attacks until you can discuss some alternatives with him. spend some time reading some posts, i might suggest doing a search on xanax within the site, you may find some valuable information there also.

I had a similar problem years ago, Techla. And I remember it was really hard, very frightening. You have to cut down gradually, give your mind and body a chance to adjust. Sometimes peace of mind is just a few hours away from the worst anxiety you'll feel. You just need to work through it. We'll all be thinking of you.
