4 years sober now 1 day
Welcome to the family. I broke a twenty year sober streak when I started drinking again in 07. I've been sober now for almost 9 yrs.
I hope our support can help you get sober for good.

Hi Kidd!
SR is a great place, I found more help and support here than I could've imagined. If you made it to 4 years before, it shows how strong you are, you can totally do that again, even if it may not feel like it now

Good to meet you, Kidd. You are never alone - plenty of encouragement to be found here. We all understand how you're feeling right now.
I had 3 yrs. sober once & went back out for 7 yrs. Joining SR & talking things over here has helped me reach over 10 yrs. sober. You can definitely reclaim your sober life!

You're home
We're alcoholics...we drink, it's what we do.
What I love most about the SR/AA/ Recovery communities is we're probably one of the only places that celebrate "failure". I'm sure I'm not the only one who wishes you a a very sincere welcome back and how amazing of you to pull yourself right up and come back!
I'm celebrating my 39th day in sobriety today. That is the longest time I have ever been sober in my entire adult using life (about 12 years). I couldn't even imagine having a 60 day chip, let alone four years. Whether you ever beat that or not, is a wonderful and impressive feat in itself.
I went to my AA home group the other day with a little swag, as I didn't have to sign in as a newcomer for the first time ever. I looked up and saw my first official sponsor I ever had and thought God was smiling at me, and felt so proud. 30 seconds later, she introduced herself as a newcomer with a new sobriety date of that day. I all of a sudden had more sober time than someone I looked up to for years thinking I would never have all that she had. THAT was divine intervention. It inspired a gentleman behind her to crumble in tears and admit he relapsed two weeks ago AFTER 15 YEARS sober.
The one day at a time thing is very real. The cunning, baffling and powerful nature of this disease (not just the substance, sorry Bill) is very real. Don't beat yourself. Several of us have been there. Stay plugged in and I hope to keep seeing your around <3

Hi Kidd1848 I think you'll find your kind of story pretty commonplace around here. I had 7 years alcohol free (can't really call it "Sober") & picked up again in the early 00's, which kicked off 10+ years of on again/off again drinking.
Best wishes for your journey, we're in the trenches with you

Hi Kidd!
We don’t drink any more, we don’t want to drink any more whereas we used to and we used to not think about wanting to stop/ stay stopped.
Four years is incredible. Your body is happy about that and that healing time is NOT erased, so wipe off your you know what and keep plowing forward.
We can share what has/ hasn’t worked for us, and not judge-mentally help you find yours.
For some it is AA, some it is by themselves, and some non 12 step help.
Warm welcomes, reading a lot, and posting thoughtfully have helped me tremendously here for my 76 days sober. This is the longest I have been alcohol free since I was 15 years old and I am 55

welcome back Kidd. i think that when a relapse happens after considerable "time" in recovery, the biggest hurdle can be coming back to the recovery community. i am glad you reached out and that you found SR. i hope we can be with you on your journey.
