I'm really sorry for your loss Moving Forward.

Please know that there's support to help you stay sober and get through this pain, both here and other places.

The best time not to drink or worst time to drink is when we are upset. Feel the pain with the knowledge that the grief will pass and you will be stronger for it. All the best.

I lost a mate a few years back to cancer - I was really invested in memorises for a while.

I don't think there's any thing wrong with that as such - it's how we process the loss and, eventually, learn to live with it?

we had some good times

drinking does nothing - it keeps you in a loop where we try and dull the pain but nothing works for very long...the wound stays red and raw.

It's natural to feel pain and sadness right now MF - the process of getting through all that is the healing.

Drinking just short circuits all that.

yes you are. allow it to happen.allow the feelings and emotions.

not a drink worthy event- respect your friend by not using this as excuse to drink.

I agree, not a drink worthy event. Definitely a meeting worthy event. My emotions are so raw. Thanks for your thoughts and messages

In my experience, alcohol and grief are a toxic mix, dependent on the situation. Sorry for your loss. As with all major changes in life, time is a great healer. All the best.

Drinking will just make the memories of your friend distorted.
Alcohol does not help- except perhaps for a few hours of oblivion with blackout (me), but the world will be waiting later.

Prayers and support to you.+

Thank you all for the support. He was only 41 and killed himself. It's been a tough night.

So sorry for you loss MF1. A meeting is a great idea. As everyone has said a drink will not help. It may give temporary relief, but so not worth it.
My very best wishes to you, SP
