The crash course and BP

I did the crash course this morning and have decided that I will never drink again and I will never change my mind.
I am very thankful to everyone who has posted in Secular Connections. Reading your comments has made me decide that I want to take this step for myself.

There is no question that losing the self-loathing and instead being able to actually feel at peace, some calm, maybe even a smidgen of pride here and there is a huge part of sobriety for me.

Sure life hurts and suffering is a sure thing and my habits and complexes of avoidance and fear still make their regularly scheduled appearances. But all the pain and self-inflicted suffering fades and you realize that you actually have within you the things you need to make something good out of your life.

Congrats and welcome. The work has really only started.

Thanks, LG. I'm looking at this as an investment in my self. A big thing for me was the realization that I was treating myself way worse than I would have treated any other person.

Excellent news for you, TTR, and for those who care about you. This is a death defying, courageous, life affirming act if ever there was one. Think of all those who remain stuck in their addiction and ambivalence, unable to take that leap of faith and trust in themselves. They can only look in awe on people like you who have made that choice to grab onto life and never let it go. This makes you one certified bona fide BADASS. You need a special hat.

WTG, trytorun. Congratulations to you. This life is the one you deserve.

I can choose to be permanently abstinent. I can choose how I want to live my life and the kind of person I want to be. These truths are empowering, aren't they?
