New here, concerned for loved one

I am new here and don't know where to start. I have a loved one who, before knowing me, has a prescription opioid problem. Cleaning up his stuff a few months ago I found methadone bottles. I have yet to tell him that I know about it. I am glad he's getting treatment and support his methadone treatment with all the my heart. I just have questions on how it works, take homes, dosages, etc. I don't want to embarrass him or myself by telling him that I know so I've been doing research on my own to try to gain as much knowledge as possible. Any input would be helpful. Thank you so much

I would just ask him. Why should either of you be too embarrassed to talk about it? And if you’re not close enough to each other to have a discussion about it, I’d leave it solidly in the “his business” category.
