Husband on 22 50mg of Tramadol a day
My husband told me this week that he has been buying Tramadol online and now taking 22 50mg tablets a day. We went to our doctors and basically told to ring a number for a local organisations and get on with it. She did suggest tapering but only recommend a program as if he was taking 8 50mg tablets so that's what im giving him. This obviously isn't enough because after an hour or so he starts to feel anxious and he his aching. I have been told to speak to Frank, narcotics anonymous but no one can tell me how many tablets to give him. I feel we're totally unsupported.
Welcome to the forum, 6781. You will find a lot of useful info an support here.
I am happy to see that your husband agrees that he needs help and that you are supporting him.
I don't have personal experience of opioids, but as I understand it, getting off them can be challenging.
My suggestion is that you and your husband find and speak to a doctor specialising in addiction treatment. Tapering might not be the only appropriate treatment, and even if it might be, it sounds like you need to discuss that with a more appropriately experienced practitioner. As far as I know, maintenance therapy might be another option (i.e. substituting the Tramadol with something else to ease withdrawal), but this is obviously best left to the medical experts.

Hi and welcome 6791
I understand you want advice but we can't give you medical advice here - it's against our rules.
The suggestion to find a doctor better versed in addiction is a good one I think?
