Motivational words and messages

Hey,

After all my meetings and reading I've done over the last few months, I've heard and read some very powerful messages that had a great impact on my sobriety. Here is one that stuck with me:

- "During our journey, we will learn and develop some new healthy habits"

What are some of yours that have really helped you along the way?

"Recognizing the patterns, especially the self-destructive patterns, is the first step. Then comes taking them on, for the rest of one's life. Taking them on requires risk, courage, perseverance and showing up more days than not. Some days the possibility of a larger life wins; other days the ghosts win. One has to know that every day is a war between the constrictive colloquies of history and the invitation to the high seas of the soul. But such a venture is what our life is about, what real adulthood is about, and what the journey of the soul demands."

This is from a James Hollis book - he's a Jungian analyst/writer/speaker who I cannot get enough of.

My healthy habit is that I became more active.
I also; paint, read, learn, grow, evolve, self-care, work out, eat better.

A oldtimer told me to "Stop drinking, jackass and you won't have this one problem in your life anymore. It's really that simple!" at AA one morning after I went back out and came back whining. He was funny as hell! Some people tried to appolgize for him after the meeting and I said "no need..he's 100% correct and that's the way I talk,so that's what I needed to hear today."

The amazing Maya Angelou said 'I did then what I knew how to do. Now I know better, I do better'.

“Get action. Do things; be sane; don’t fritter away your time; create, act, take a place wherever you are and be somebody; get action.”

Probably the healthiest habit is I don't run away from my problems anymore...I solve them
