Day 1 again
I’ve been visiting this site for some time but this is my first post. I am over 60 and my drinking has totally gotten out of control. I binge drink. Alone. Sadly I live 2 blocks from a liquor store.
Later this week I am visiting a hospital that specializes in addiction and mental health hoping to get direction and support.
I really don’t want to drink the way I have been.
I look forward to participating with this group.

Welcome, and we're glad to have you.
I lived two blocks from two different liquor stores when I was drinking, too.
I didn't have a car, of course booze came first, so on the walk home I would drink two shooters of whiskey at 9am just to get things started.
It's great you're taking steps to stop drinking. I didn't stop until I was fifty. I don't think I would have made sixty the path I was on.
Anyway, glad you posted and best to you.

Welcome to the posting side of things M3r3, glad you've decided to join us. I think you'll be happy you've made the decision to quit, and i'm glad to hear you are seeking some professional help too.
I live within proximity of several places that sell alcohol too, most everyone does actually. Fortunately we don't have to frequent them anymore ;-)

Hi M3, good to meet you and good on you for going and getting treatment. There are a few of us today on day 1. Best of wishes to you and I'll look out for your posts to see how you are doing.
I've been manging to build up some sober time but making it stick has been another story. I'm determined to keep trying until I get it right xxx

M3 - We're happy you're here. Talking things over with those who understand really helps relieve our anxiety.
I was older too when I finally realized willpower alone would never stop me from destroying myself. What had once been fun had turned into a necessity - and I was in a constant fog. No way to live. Glad you see what needs to be done. Welcome!

Welcome m3r3. You will find lots of support here. Similar stories with a lot of us. When I lived in California I lived behind the liquor store. No joke, I could be at the counter in about 45 seconds. Stay strong, and stay away from those two blocks. We are all here when you need it.
