Alcoholic

Went for counseling today and finally acknowledged that I am an alcoholic. It was not easy for me to say. But now that I admitted the truth to myself I can continue to move forward with my treatment. My next step is calling AA.

Welcome to SR Satel.
Its a big step to acknowledge it, and essential to getting better.
Stick close to here!

“The first step is admitting you have a problem” sounds so cliche, but acknowledging that word, alcoholic, really was one of the most important steps that happened in terms of me taking this seriously. It was hard, but also like a weight lifted if that makes ANY sense?!

Best of luck 🙂

What is it about your drinking that makes you think you are alcoholic?

Great job Satel! A huge portion of my jump starting my healing was acknowledging to myself that I was an alcoholic. I went a step further by telling my wife, friends, and family. Accountability is vital to success. Also great job on looking at the AA program. It is a tremendous community! You will learn and grow with friends who know your problems and encourage you through your goals. Proud of ya!

Congratulations! I've been sober 20 years, 10 months by attending meetings, getting a sponsor, working the steps, and by continuing to incorporate the steps into my every day living. It's a design for living that really works!

Welcome Satel~ we're here for you if you want to share. There's so much info on this website that has helped me. Many of the suggested readings really aided me with my recovery as well as healing family issues. Not sure where I'd be had it not been for SR.
