World Cup have a few beers
Start of the World Cup yesterday. Deals on alcohol in Tesco. I'm entitled to a beer. Well there was not even a game on I got drunk walked around town like a lunatic and lost all my money gambling.
Woke up this morning upset stomach dry retching. Phoned the boss said I could not come in. The boss forced me to go in.
Very deppressed all day.
Does anyone else think they can have a beer because it's the World Cup?

Have you attended AA like you mentioned in previous posts? Or taken any other action to stop drinking? Doesn't sound good if you're calling your boss and being forced to go in. If they're forcing you in, then i guess they know it's alcohol related and not due to real sickness.
'I will definitely give AA a try. I can honestly say my life with alcohol in it is not worth living' is something you wrote previously.

Anyone can, you included. Coming here and posting after you got drunk won't do it though - you've been following that same pattern for a while now.
Are you willing to do the work it will take to quit for good? If so you don't have to wish - you can just do it.

Same old same old.
Have a drink cos it’s the World Cup
Have a drink cos it’s Friday
Have a drink cos it’s 3pm
Have a drink cos it’s 11 am
Have a drink cos it’s 8am
Have a drink to stop the shakes
Have a drink co you lost your job again.
Have a drink cos you got divorced.
Have a drink even though your legs are swollen from drink related diabetes
Get out while the going is good.
It always gets worse with a drink.
Be kind to yourself,
Treat yourself like a best friend.
And enjoy the rewards.
Good luck to you.

not here.
not for the world cup, stanley cup, americas cup, super bowl, clarret jug, little brown jug, or any other sports trophy or sporting event.
ALL of them have been more enjoyable to watch sober.

There is no excuse for me to justify drinking. I got sober for good and will never drink again, no matter what.
Sounds like you still want to drink more than you want to be sober.

Every alcoholic I know, including myself, have used every reason in the book to drink. At this point, your mindset has to be all in, or you will relapse like you did over and over. Alcoholics can’t control their drinking, it’s as simple as that. There is no such thing as having a beer or two. Controlled drinking for alcoholics has never existed, nor will it ever exist.
I hope you can get on the right path and realize that one day. As I have said to many others on here, quitting alcohol is a huge part of sobriety, but it’s not the ONLY part. You have to totally restructure your life, mind, and body. It’s a complete makeover of who you used to be and what you want to become. When and if you come to terms with never being able to drink again..you will be in a much healthier and content state.

The good news is...you survived that binge! Yikes...wandered around town, gambled your money away...woke up feeling horrible, had to go into work. You still have a job, did not injure yourself or someone else, did not get arrested WHEW So...you can LEARN from this if you choose. One beer...is all it takes to put yourself in danger. You lucked out and can choose a sober life. You may not be so lucky next time. You KNOW you cannot drink and have a happy life. It will be a cycle of this turmoil until ends. Stop now and have the rest of your life to find happiness. Choose your bottom before it chooses you my friend.
