Sore legs all over. restless at night.

5 weeks off alcohol.

Restless legs at night, dull aches during day and stiff in mornings.

Any ideas?

Weight lifting.

And big up on the 5 weeks. That's great.

26 days here with similar symptoms along with tingling feet that alter between hot/cold. First time I quit symptoms faded after 2 weeks, taking longer this time, but I’m hoping it passes. I’ve seen my pcp and neurologist. Go see your doc and get your vitamins, blood levels and enzymes checked out. Vitamin supplements can help. It may just be general soreness that you didn’t notice when you were drinking. Never hurts to get checked out.

Relax and visit a doc if it persists. 5wks is probably nothing compared to your drinking time. It takes a bit to 'heal'. My calves were sore as hell around 5wks..I linked it back to low on vitamins(pottassium) from my drinking/diet. Pretty sure I was also kinda sleep 'spasming' the first several weeks. I started taking a multi-vitamin and some other OTC crap. LOL

Vitamin and mineral supplement really helped me with that soreness.

I have restless leg syndrome. I do have a Dr. prescription, but it doesn't always work. Some folks recommend exercise, but if I have a heavy exercise day using my legs (even allot of walking), it seems worse at night. I take a magnesium citrate supplement, which I think helps allot. On really bad nights I get out of bed and do squats or wall sits, fatiguing my muscles. Sometimes, just rubbing them helps. I also try to regulate my breathing and slow my heart rate, which helps to relax me. It can be a miserable state to be in. I hope you find relief.

Congratulations on 5 weeks of sobriety!

Great job on 5 wks. For me, when I went through this along with about every PAWS symptom you can describe, time and hydration were two things that helped. The time part is frustrating but as someone said above- even for the year or so it took for "all" my drinking related physical recovery to recede or end, it was a very short time compared to the years I spent drinking alcoholically.

Patience is tough for this alcoholic, and staying sober was (IS!) the only solution for getting well.

I've had Restless Leg Syndrome for all of my adult life. It's really annoying! I don't have a prescription. I take calcium-magnesium at night time and I get up and walk around the house a lot. I agree with Rar, relaxing and distracting myself seem to help.

Anna just made me think about how I eat a banana every day - originally one of my good nutrition reboots (boy was I nutrient deprived) and now pretty much a habit about an hour after getting up, either as bfast or a bfast "appetizer"

This could be a simple nutritional defecit, or something more complex. Really, the only way you can find out is to see a doctor.
