Hi DM,

If you’re interested in quitting and/or staying quit, it sounds like you might get some traction with Rational Recovery’s Addictive Voice Recognition Technique. It an exclusive method that has nothing to do with other contemporary recovery programs and is particularly well suited to people with your background.

There is a forum in SR next door to this called Secular Connections. If you read and/or post there, you can learn all about AVRT. But, you will not be able to go into your past experiences with NA. If you want to dwell on those past experiences, you have to do that here.

Im not an addict, my wife is. Shes spent so much time in na stuff shes never home and now she thinks she only can be with somone thats also an addict. I didnt try to keep her from going and i know how important her recovery is and never stood in her way and supported her as much as i could. But because im not an addict, i cant spend 5-8hours a day running around to meetings, sponsors, sponcees, sober events.
I do understand what she goes thru, i have been there for her the whole journey so far and even try to go if its just a meeting. but mostly im just waiting at home alone to see her for 15 mins a day

And do you know what... in the end. NA helps her not do drugs, but she still acts like a user.

My wife knows how you feel. It took Rational Recovery to get me to see that I could take personal control over my recovery and get on with life.

and thats the problem- not NA but a person that isnt working THE program. untreated addiction.

i hope you take a visit over to the friends and family of substance abusers forum here. even tbe f&f of alcoholics. theres a lot of support and wisdom from people that have been in your shoes.
