Today is Day One - Hope to be Alcohol Free 4Life
Hello All,
I have been reading the threads off and on this past weekend when I decided to finally sign up. I have been in denial for several years concerning my drinking. On most nights, I would drink a six pack of beer. I found myself doing this as a routine with no worries. I kept telling myself that I would quit someday. Well, I finally decided to quit today. I'm glad to know that I am not the only person struggling with alcohol. I thank you for your support and look forward to this continuous challenge with all of you.

Welcome Al...
You're at the right place at the right time.
Don't worry about quitting forever, just don't drink today.
I, too, was a beer-a-holic. Keep reading, keep coming back and maybe check out AA if you are so inclined.

Hey Al
Congrats on your decision to make a change. This is a great place to share your journey with others, and get lots of support. AA is a tremendous source of support, also, at least in my case. Good luck, one day at a time...

Hi Al
Congrats on day 1. What a massive day for you.
It's great that this is your time and that you recognised it.
Beating alcohol on your own is really tough, so I hope you keep coming back here and posting. We're all in this together.

Welcome, Al. You will find a mountain of support and friendship here. I am proud of you for taking the first step in getting sober and living a sober life. The work is hard and the blessings are countless. I urge you to not try to do this alone, but to reach out. I can't, but we can. Do yourself a huge favor and run, don't walk to a meeting.

Thank you all for responding! Yesterday when I got home, I had the strong urge to go out and buy some beer. Fortunately, I thought about this site and the commitment I had made to abstain. It helped to think about the commitment but it really helped me when I read your supportive responses. This fight is difficult and I can't imagine it getting much worse. This fight is definitely difficult and it will take time. Thank you all once again! NoMoBeer - you’re absolutely right! I will focus on each day. Sobering...
