First sober Mother's Day. First sober family party. First family party in years.

When I was drinking I probably would've told my mom I "had a lot of work to do" when in reality I was suffering a hangover. Today I actually got to be with my mom and grandma and it was great.

This is an emotional day thinking back on my personal inventory and the ways I hurt people.

Grateful to be where I am. Grateful that I had 15 days of sobriety (not a lot, but its something.) Grateful I did not pick up a drink today! I am now going to a meeting.

15 days is great! I had a lot of bittersweet moments in early recovery. Gratitude was mixed with guilt. But, just hang onto the beauty of today with your mom and grandma.

This is a beautiful sentiment. The ability to be present in the lives of our families and friends and fellow freakin' citizens is such a gift - one we just do not have as drunks.
