Remove the drink problem
Staying sober is not a battle. It is at first in recovery obviously as one is purely concerned with staying sober and rightly so. However with time and working a recovery program this fight ceases. This is the wonder of recovery programs such as the program of AA: the drink problem is removed and alcohol is not sworn off but rather is not even a concern. You can be around it but simply aren’t bothered by it. Don’t stop your recovery work until you reach this point.
My recovery is not based on fear of alcohol or drinking again. This does not keep me sober. Being content and happy is what keeps me sober as I’m happy with my life. In this state chemically altering my mind seems completely unnecessary.
Grateful to be sober.
