Inpatient rehab
If you have the chance i would say take it. You've been struggling mightily with your alcoholism and this would be an opportunity to learn some things you may have never learned before. Your addiction will of course think it's a bad idea, but that's par for the course.

Yep I've been a few times. If you are lucky enough to have the opportunity then why not?
Rehab is what you make of it. It won't 'fix' you. It will give you a lot of time to get sorted and develop a plan. Its not 'fun' and it will be uncomfortable. But its a good thing for sure.

In my experience it was one of the best things I ever did for myself; going there saved my life.
I guess it depends on the quality of the rehab and what their program involves, but I would still think anything is better than nothing.
What it did for me was give me a jump-start on getting sober and an environment where I was able to put all my focus on getting better and beginning to deal with issues I had that contributed to my drinking.

Yes, go!
Just the fact that you 'think you don't deserve it' means that you have issues that need to be dealt with.
You must believe that you deserve to live a better way and that your life matters!
Please go and keep us posted.

Hello, bluedog97.
I've been sober 20 years and nine months come Tuesday the 15th. (I'm only supposed to count my sobriety one day at a time, but I think I'll be okay until Tuesday. ) I didn't go to treatment. My husband went to treatment. He's been sober 30 years and four months. He said he would not have been able to get sober without treatment. I know a guy who's been to 16 treatment centers. He's been sober 11 years now. He said he just got tired of starting over and walked back into a meeting one day and has stayed. He helps a lot of people.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I feel better about my decision to go.

I went to rehab a few years ago and it was great. Was sober for two years when I got out. Then after a series of relapses was sent to rehab again but that rehab was awful and very depressing. It totally depends on the facility. Yet I would rather go to rehab than drink myself to death. Usually it is a leg up and a good start but you need to have an aftercare plan.
