Drinking tonight

I fell hard tonight. I'm drinking. I've been passed over for a promotion. My job is getting outsourced. My son is between jobs and may end up living with me. He lived with me during the crash and cost me $40k. I'm feeling really low.

I'm sorry for your circumstances, but drinking won't help.

You won’t be able to find a new job drunk. But what is done is done. Get some sleep, sober up, wake up tomorrow and get your sh** together and get started looking for a new job. It is great job market out there.

Tedsie, I'm sorry that you lost your job and things look bleak. I'm sure you know that drinking is only going to make things worse. This is the time to get your resume spruced up and do what you can to find another job.

And, I'm not sure why your son cost you 40,000. when he lived with you, but if he moves in again, try to come up with boundaries that will protect you.

1. Dump out any remaining alcohol in the house.
2. Start job search tomorrow.
3. Give serious thought to not allowing son to move back in, if in fact that is even his intention.

I'm sorry to hear about your promotion Tedsie but drinking never really helps - it's like shouting at the sky.

Its normal to feel fear about the future but I reckon you'd be much better off not Wasting money you haven't got on booze and using the weekend instead to work out a plan for the next promotion and a plan on what to do if your son does have to move in with you?

hope youre doing better today,tedsie.
this could be a very valuable lesson in that it could show that stopping drinking alone isnt enough. it could be time for some help and change.
