quitting at 30, 40 & 50...
When I hear people who quit by or before 30, I wonder why so early.
When I hear people who quit at or after 50, I wonder why so late.
When I hear people who quit by or before 40, that sounds about right.

I didn't quit till my 50's due to health problems. I never really ever tried to quit till then even tho I had plenty of reasons at 30 or 40. I always thought I would put it off till later. later finally came.

I got sober at 31. In early sobriety, I went to a lot of young peoples' meetings. I met so many people who were the same age as me but had gotten sober before they could legally drink in the U.S. (age 21). Those were the people who amazed me and made me just a tad jealous

Though I drank a lot, alcohol did not appear to me to be a problem until about 8 or 9 years ago. Note, “appear to me.” My second wife hated my drinking. I noted the problem in around 2009. Cleaned up, but about 3 years ago it got out of control. Been struggling ever since. On Day 5 right now. I turn 50 in October.

I'm in my early thirties, and something about the way you phrased this really resonated with me! I don't want to find out either. Of course it can easily get so much worse.

Well iam quitting at 27 because I get consumed with all the negatives in life.
Jealousy
Anger
Revenge
Low self worth
Paranoia
Over thinking
Lack of ambition
An ofcourse depression.
I'll literally turn into a homeless bum if I keep going.

I wish I would have never started, which happened in my early teens. I think putting any conditions on quitting is a bad idea really. If drinking is a problem, right now is the best time to quit no matter your age.

[QUOTE=goodbyeevan;6883157]I really don't get this post. Why is 30 too early??? Why is 50 too late??? Why is 40 just right? What the heck? Am I missing something here?[/QUOTE
I think it's a riff on Goldilocks and the three bears. It's called Daredevil and the 3 alcoholics......
