Day 7 check-in
Been on day 7 more times than I can count over the past 3 years but not sure I've ever checked in. So here goes:
- it's great that I've been on day 7 so many times (and have gone much longer) over the last 3 years. For about 12 years I never went more than 3 days without drinking. I'm going in the right direction and will succeed at this.
- it's Monday and I was able to get up and get to work on time. Looking professional like I should.
- I didn't have the feeling of horror when I woke up. That feeling where my body is crippled and I know the worst is yet to come as the day progresses.
- I didn't drink and drive, waste my money, smoke butts and damage my brain/organs this weekend.
These seem like simple things yet when I would binge on Sundays, Monday was the scariest thing ever. Ready for day 7!

Great job. One of the hardest things about staying sober, for many of us, is that as soon as we feel significant progress is made, we start getting a sense of control over our drinking. It can seem like our brains have changed back to normal and we have this thing conquered, or like we made it into a bigger issue than it actually was.
And that sense of control over alcohol is exactly what makes us slip up again.
Coming to this board was a wise choice. I've learned to get on here whenever I feel proud of how much sober time I've had because that's when I'm most vulnerable.
