RAH back home from rehab

So far so good on Day 1 back. It’s so different being around him not drinking or using drugs. We just got back from dinner and tomorrow are going to the movies. Then Monday he has to work on getting cleared to go back to work.

I hope it goes well Freedom.

Keep working your own side of the street and let us know how it goes.

Hi Freedom,
I was in a similar place about three months ago. My advice (if you're anything like me) is to make sure you get rest, really put yourself first, especially when you feel tired, and enjoy today. I wish you all the best and all the peace!

No IOP. He said he will go to AA meetings instead and focus on work.

My RAH became a bit angry and defiant about financial stuff on the 2nd day, and he even told me that this is what I get for wanting him sober. I called a family meeting to discuss the financial stuff, and I told RAH that he is not welcome to move back into my apartment if this is how he is going to act. Fortunately, he was very agreeable and cooperative at the family meeting, and he has since been very nice to be around. I am glad that I stood up for myself because sometimes I think RAH thinks that I will put up with his crap because I am needy. I think I have made it quite clear that if he doesn’t stay shaped up and working on his recovery, he will be asked to leave and go into a sober living house.

Good for you. My RAW knows the same applies... if she slips and is willing to work to stay sober, she is welcome to stay in our home, otherwise she can go an be an addict somewhere else.
