5 days sober

Hello everyone! I'm 5 days sober. My life is a mess and I'm tired of my awful choices. I have only tried sobriety once last year. It lasted 3 weeks.
I feel vulnerable, scared, and I have very little faith in myself but I am determined to do this.

Welcome to a great place for encouragement, Ruth!

I felt the same when I first came to SR. I was shaky & fragile. I soon gained strength by reading the advice & suggestions here - and I didn't feel alone anymore. We all understand what you've been through - and we're here to help. Congratulations on your 5 days.

Welcome to SR Ruth. You've come to the right place. SR is probably the major influence in keeping me on my sober path. Folks here are wise, understanding, compassionate and non judgmental. Please read through the threads and forums to see what has worked for other folks. Reading and posting help me. Hang in there. You've already gotten some tough days done. Good for you.

Welcome, Ruth!

5 days of sobriety is fantastic!

I was so afraid when I started my recovery journey, too. It's a scary time, but you will be able to do this, so have faith! We are here to offer support.

When I would come off a binge those first 5 days were a nightmare. Literally. Withdrawals/detox are no joke.

You have made it through those days and should be feeling better physically. Hang in there.

Alcohol was once our friend but it turned on us.

I am finding prayer and believing in a higher power, and it isn't me, helps me.

I have 6 months and 2 weeks sober right now and I do go to AA meetings. And when they say "please pray for the still suffering alcoholic" I get a little lump in my throat. Those prayers must have helped me stay alive through all that alcoholism and I am grateful.

Stay strong
