First time here
Hello all,
I’m really not too sure what I’m doing here. Well, I know why I’m here, but not too sure what to do.
Currently I’m 7 months sober. There’s a long story leading up to my sobriety, but I guess that’s for another time. I’m doing pretty well with maintaining my sobriety, but for the past few weeks I’ve been having the intense feeling of loneliness. Just soul crushing loneliness. I was reading around, looking for things to cope with it, and I was directed here. I just felt the need to put my thoughts down. If anyone has any ideas, it would be great. Thanks

Well done on 7 months virtual. Posting here is a good start on addressing your loneliness.
Could you join a club, do some volunteer work for charity, take up bird watching , go to church if you are or aren’t religious they always have events and are very friendly.
There are lots of things for us in recovery to do it’s just making a start that is sometimes the difficult part.
My labourer left me before Xmas which left me very lonely at work.
Not healthy spending all that time alone.
He’s back now and my mood has lifted at work.
I wish you well

I always tell myself, I never have to be alone. And we're lucky in addiction, we don't have to be. There are recovery groups like AA, Smart, Refuge Recovery, groups at church. In the states we have Meetups....and there is pretty much a group for everything. There is 12 step based Yoga. There is a work out network called Phoenix Multisport and Recovery Strong. Lots of stuff.
Pick one, give it a try. And of course on line support is great! And here we are!!

Glad you found us. This place can make such a difference.
Have you considered AA for fellowship and working on recovery?
The other thing I'd suggest is reading this article on PAWS (due to the feelings youre describing plus the amount of time you've been sober).... https://digital-dharma.net/post-acut...r-immediately/ It had massively useful info for me at the same kind of stage of sobriety, but it was the action that I took on the back of the knowledge it imparted (not just having the knowledge itself) that saved me from that horrible pit of despair. I needed to take action in order to get better. But those actions were minor compared with what they reaped.
Anyway. Like I said, I'm so glad you found us. It's a great community.
Wishing you all the best for your continuing sobriety, with a new and improved quality of recovery.
