GMS, I think it's something you will have to talk to your dr about. If you're taking other medications, then that's something to talk to your dr about.

Do you mean antabuse? Definitely talk to your doctor, but it (disulfram) is a serious drug that will make you very ill if you drink on it. It can have harmful side effects on the liver and it is crucial to take exactly as prescribed; a responsible dr who knows about addiction should be the one to determine if a patient needs it.

It's not a cure for alcoholism, it is just one drug that some (myself included) find a helpful tool at some point in their recovery (often at the beginning, like I did for the first 90 days).

Years ago I asked my Dr. about it & he didn't recommend it for me. Any type of alcohol ingested will make you sick . If you think about it, mouthwash etc. Like August mentioned it does take a toll on the liver. It's a discussion with your Dr.
Good luck.

I have taken it. It does not lessen cravings. It will just make you violently ill if you drink on it.

^^^It is not an anti-craving drug. Campral and naltrexone are two aimed at that.
