AA seems to be working

The things I am learning in AA are really helping me stay sober. I have learnt to pick up the phone not the drink first. I don't go everydąy because sometimes I find the horror stories a bit too much. I have gotten into the routine of meetings and don't worry about what anyone thinks of me. There's a lot of friendly helpful people. Morning meditation sets me into the right frame of mind for the day. Not saying it's still not hard but it's easier than chasing the elusive bottle of wine everyday. It will be a long road to full recovery but at least I am making progress.

GOOD ONE SWCH! I think ANY resource we can use- that helps us in recovery should be used. I am not a career AA'er but it is free group therapy. I have a copy of the 'Desiderata' up in my bedroom and read it often...kind of a meditation thing.

With all it's sham, drudgery and broken dreams it is still a beautiful world..strive to be happy.

Congrats! Glad you're doing well!

Not having to negotiate with alcohol was my single favorite thing about recovery. I can drink this much on a work night. I can have beer but not wine. I can do another day of blackout drunk and still have enough time to get well enough so that I can stagger into work on Monday. I should stop drinking now or my daughter will smell it on me when she gets home from school

ETC ETC ETC ad nauseum.

SO exhausting and debilitating.

Stay on Team Sober!

Alcoholism is a horrible thing. Don't get turned away by other's stories, but realized that could be you soon if you keep drinking.
Keep going to meetings and staying sober!

I really like AA too -- my sponsor in particular. Really great guy. I'm now on my 8th Day sober -- the longest stretch I have had in 15 months when I went through detox. I would not have been able to do it without AA nd my sponsor. I am convinced of that.

Very happy for you.
