One week, no alcohol!
Heya everyone I've just completed a week sober, still adjusting day by day and just dealing with everything moment by moment but things aren't too bad. I'm going to have some cake tonight to celebrate =)
Congratulations!! Keep it up!!
Not that I'm an expert, by far, I have been a chronic relapser. For me, part of making it stick is learning how to truly accept a change of thinking about life and its enjoyment. I wish I could drink responsibly like I used to. But I can't. I have been irrevocably changed, stretched like an overused rubber band -when it comes to how alcohol affects (and eventually rules) my life once I take it in. There's no turning back this clock.
For me, it's been about relearning how to do the things I need to do, how to cope, how to celebrate, how to express myself, how to behave responsibly. It's more than just the willpower not to pick up the bottle. But hey, maybe that's just me. Your mileage may vary. I just hope you have many happy sober days ahead. And when life inevitably throws you a curve, I hope you have someone at hand that you know will pick up the phone.
