cravings suck

I have no idea how I can be so confident in my desire to never drink again one night while wanting nothing more than to down a pint of vodka the next. And for no good reason. Nothing was bad today. Things aren't stressful. I just really, really feel like I just want to get completely hammered. But I am 100 percent committed to staying sober.

Being an alcoholic sucks.

day 47 . . .

Congrats on 47 days sober! Yes, cravings suck. But they don't last forever and they get fewer and fewer as you get more sober time. It won't always be this hard.

Cravings are tough, but they don't last.

47 days of sobriety is great! Your focus on staying sober will get you through this.

It can be very tough sometimes.
I know, had the same feeling you are going through, and Vodka was my choice of poison as well. But you know, every day that goes by it will get easier.
Now I rarely even think about it anymore. Just reminders of why I put it away years ago, not cravings anymore.

47 is awesome. Congrats on that.

Cravings suck but what really sucks is a morning of violent vomiting with the water turned on so my family doesn't hear, inability to look people in the eyes, losing confidence, wasting our lives...

those things suck worse!

Stay strong. Inspired by your 47.

Jack - It won't always feel this way. You're still in the early days, & learning to live differently. I felt the same way in the first few months, but those feelings left me & never returned. You are healing - be kind to yourself.

Lessgravity - Amen. We must never forget where we've been.

What if cravings didn't suck? What if I made them suck by believing they should not exist and I should not have to experience them? What if I made them suck by thinking about them as part of me I disliked, part of me I wanted to avoid? Can I change that expectation?

What if I looked at them with curiosity instead of disdain? What if the next time I have an urge I thought I see you Craving, let's have some tea and talk for a while. I'd like to get to know you better?

Namaste 'n sheet.

I look at cravings as a residual effect of a prolonged bad habit.

They are just a thought that will pass, and there is no need to act on them.

In time, we will build up our sober muscles! 💪

Yes, craving sucks. It's almost the dark side of the mind plans ahead of time to drink. I still struggle. But I was sober for a year and a half. What helped me with cravings was eating full and drinking a lot of water/eating candy. I have a long way to go...I don't even have a day, you have 47 days. You should be proud.

I drank for years....it took a little time for the cravings to die off.

Have you seen this link Jack?

Yes cravings are tuff! You just need to be tuffer!

What you are heading towards is a far better place than where you have been and its called reality.

It's what mother nature intended for us hooomans😁
