New...boyfriend incarcerated

Hi, I am new to this site. My bf is currently incarcerated and we are awaiting sentencing. Now that he is in jail, he’s been clean for a month. Prior to this he used Xanax, weed, cocaine, lean, and meth.

Ironically, the day he was arrested, his sister and I had an intervention planned. He had been spiraling out of control.

In the course of a year, we went through 3 vehicles, lost our home, and I subsequently lost my teaching job.

He’s confident he can remain clean once he is released...but I know that addiction is a very difficult disease to cure. I’m scared that once he gets out, the cycle will continue.

Welcome! I hope that your boyfriend decides to stay clean when he is released from prison.

I hope that you use this time to take care of yourself. You might find AlAnon in your city, to be a good support for you.

Welcome to the family. I hope you get some support for yourself. We also have a forum for friends and family of substance abusers.

I hope he chooses to stay clean after he's done his time.

Welcome, LilT.
Has your SO considered a sober house after he is released?
Could be helpful.
Any idea how long a term he will have to serve?

My bf is currently in the pretrial phase, but based on the negotiations going on I think he may be out soon. Do you know if he needs to apply or be referred to a sober facility? Not sure if he’d want that right after gaining freedom...but I’m willing to suggest it!

Assume he will have a probation counselor?
He/she could probably help.

Some sort of outpatient rehab might not be a bad idea between jail and sober living. The more you throw at addiction, the better your chances are of beating it.
