Despondent and wanted to drink
It was just a ****** day at work. My feelings got hurt and that's just silly. But it made me really despondent and the rest of the day I had a "f&&& it" attitude and thought what the hell I am going to drink tonight.
I still feel low. But I didn't drink. I thought about the process. I would have a glass of wine and I know that wouldn't be enough. Then I'd have another. And in the span of an hour I would drink a bottle and want more. Tomorrow I would wake up feeling awful and ashamed and guilty.
So I guess I just keep plugging on. Not every day can be good. I do wish though my first reaction wouldn't be to think of drinking.
Thanks for reading.

I've been there with those bad work days and would come home and drink a bottle of wine. I finally figured out it wasn't worth beating myself up mentally and physically, reliving the day as I drank. I still have those bad days, but now I'm able to leave them at work. Good for you for not giving in!
DONT DO IT!
You have been on the roundabout for a long time and know that it is a repetative cycle!
You have made the decision to get off the roundabout because you want more from life.
STICK TO YOUR GOAL it's the only way to experience life after alcohol.
Why not try,
Think of something else that you like to do as an escape when stressed.
Once you have this alternative clearly laid out.
When you next get a thought of alcohol as an escape consciously think of your new alternative, don't force it don't try telling yourself not to think of other things. Just keep gently bringing your thought back to your new stressed go to.
It's mindfullness and requires practice to change the path that the mind takes in a work stress situation.
From a destructive escape to a creative escape🤗
Just another tool for the toolbox.

This was me yesterday too, except it was at home, so I understand. It was a tough day. I bet I drank 10 sparkling waters. I'm glad I toughed it out. I bet you are too. Congratulations.

Well done for playing the tape forward CC, and looking past that initial release to what comes after.
And sorry your feelings were hurt. We can be a sensitive lot and no mistake. And our AV (addict voices) don't miss a trick - they're never far away in early recovery, piping up with unhelpful suggestions about how to deal with our problems, ALL of which involve taking a drink.
What happened to hurt your feelings? If you haven't spoken to someone about it I'd suggest that you do. Often when these things are left in our heads they can grow into monsters. Once we talk about them they lose their power.
