I'm back

I don't know what to say other than that. I'm sat here, drunk, tired, sick of being me and wishing I could change. That's it really, I just wish I could stop.

It takes many of us, including me, multiple starts. As long as you don't stop trying there is hope. Keep on trying and keep coming back.

Good to see you, flossy. It took me a few times, but I finally got fed up with being miserable & anxious all the time. Drinking is doing you no favors - it's no longer fun or relaxing. You can stop & get your life back. We're with you.

You could take the blue pill and continue drinking, then just wake up tomorrow in your bed with yet another hideous hangover wondering where it all went wrong.

Or... you could take the red pill, stop drinking and venture into soberland. I hear the rabbit hole leads somewhere wonderful.

No plans, I just need to not drink tonight to start with. Last time posting here was what kept me going. I need to stick around!

Welcome Flossy. I had a few starts and stops too. My first step was to stop and then I posted here declaring another Day 1. This time I made myself a plan on what to do when faced with a crave, depression, anxiety, etc. I find that I'm always tweaking my plan, though. The underlying tool was to just not drink and post here when the urge was extra strong. I spend a good portion of my day here.

Welcome back Flossy!! I am another one who it took a few times to finally get sobriety right, and I am so glad I came back and made that final Day One post, and I think this will be your final day one post as well.

Posting and reading here daily was such an important part to my recovery plan. I think the beginning I was on and off this site for hours each day. I made it a point to log on here the second the thought of alcohol popped into my head. I found reading the posts of others and offering kind words, and support was very helpful to me as well. I also read a lot, exercised, did yoga, mindfulness, and breathing techniques. All of these things are still part of my recovery plan.

This is a great link to take a look at and get started with yours. I joined here in 2012, and today I am celebrating 2 years and 2 months sobriety. I am so glad I kept coming back and working on my plan. You can do this!!!

Hi Flossy. I, too, took a few times to get it. I drank 30 yrs. & now have over 10 yrs. sober. So I know it can be done, no matter how impossible it may seem. It's hard to believe I once lived for it, even though it was destroying me. Nothing compares to the wonderful feeling of freedom when you let go of it. You can do it.

Whether you're doing this as a I'm done forever thing, or one day at a time I think everyone needs a plan

https://www.soberrecovery.com/forums...ery-plans.html (Psst...wanna know why I'm always recommending recovery plans?)
