185 Days today
Well, I'm past the 6 month mark and haven't posted anything in a while, other than my 24hr commitment for the day. So just a quick update.
Life has defiantly been busy the past few months. My sponsor moved 5hrs down south but I still call him every other day. He also comes up every few weeks for the weekend, so we get to have a good chat face to face. My mother sold her condo and last week moved in with me till she gets accepted in the seniors residents. I caused me a lot of anxiety before hand, the move and her living with me. But, I had a couple a good sober AA friends that helped with the move and her living with me isn't too bad. She fairly low key and keeps herself busy, has her own bathroom and tv in her room. I had the kids this weekend and with my mom there, they all enjoyed it. Me, it was a bit overwhelming as it threw me out of my routine, but I managed to accept that its a benefit for my kids and my mother and put my **** and expectations aside. It's not all about me right...lol.
Other than that, still going to 4 meetings a week, learning how to deal with new situation sober and trying my best not to be so selfish (Hard to do sometimes). I definitely can tell when I'm so self absorbed, It's that FEAR and my expectations that cause it. As my sponsor always says "change your thinking and turn it over". I'm sure he's sick of saying it but I think he understands more than anyone that that type of change takes time, patience, persistence and practice.
One day at a time, I'm getting better... Subtle changes but other see it before I even do.
Wow, I've rambled on enough.
My sober life is definitely better than my previous one.
